The Moral Legacy of Barry Sherman, a Canadian Tycoon
Barry Sherman was a gold-medal-winning engineering science graduate of the University of Toronto who received a doctorate in astrophysics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1967 her purchased the pharmaceutical drug manufacturing company, Empire Laboratories, from the estate of his maternal uncle, Louis Winter and wife Beverley, who, dying within 17 days of one another, had designated Barry Sherman as the executor of their estate. Thereafter, Sherman pursued a career in the drug industry that was both highly litigious and highly profitable. Selling Empire Laboratories, he shed financial responsibility for his cousins, the heirs of Louis Winter, and founded Apotex, a company engaged in the same business as Empire Laboratories, which grew to become Canada's largest producer of generic drugs.

The Trump Enigma: Imperialist or Nationalist
One of the basic lessons that can be gleaned from a study of multiple imperialisms over the past five centuries, is that imperialist warfare is always class warfare. Imperialism is always class warfare at home, and usually it is class warfare abroad as well. Both at home and abroad, it is the so-called “lower” classes, the workers and peasants, who are dispossessed by imperialist extraction. Workers and peasants—sometimes even slaves—make up the bulk of the military forces conscripted by imperialist powers. Workers and peasants at home are the ones whose labour was exploited to fuel imperial dominance. Abroad, the products of the labour of workers and peasants, and any productive assets they might have controlled, are usually what is targeted by imperialism. Any attempt to distract Americans from these basic, long-term, and inescapable empirical realities of class dominance and class divisions, any submersion of class beneath the weight of minoritarian identity issues, is by default if not by design an ideological program in the service of imperialism. The converse is also true: the rise of class consciousness in the US, or at least greater awareness of the plight of the working class, will erode the political support base for the increasing costs of maintaining empire abroad.The above quote from an essay by Concordia University anthropology professor, Maximilian Forte, draws attention to a fundamental enigma: is US President Donald Trump an American nationalist or a globalist imperialist. Trump's election campaign was clearly nationalist: it was for protection against both unfair foreign competition and jobs off-shoring by American corporations; it was for tax cuts to remove tens of millions of the lowest paid workers from the tax rolls while providing incentives for job-creating corporate investment in America; and it was for better relations with America's post-war rival for global dominance, Russia.

Renewable energy is more expensive than fossil fuel sourced energy. As there is no fuel cost, the high cost of renewable energy must be largely due to the cost of harvesting it. In large part, the cost of harvesting renewable energy is for equipment, windmills, transmission lines, etc., all of which have an embodied energy content that is reflected in the price paid for the energy harvested.
Whether renewable energy sources provide any net energy is thus open to question. The 2014 Scientific American article: Wind and Solar Harvest Enough Energy Now to Pay Back Manufacture Plus Add Storage, claims that wind and solar do pay back. But that's likely only in the best cases. It is probable, therefore, that renewable energy is still mostly a counterproductive Will o' the Wisp.

Forbes Magazine, December 8, 2017: On July 26, 2016, the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) issued a report “Army General Fund Adjustments Not Adequately Documented or Supported”. The report indicates that for fiscal year 2015 the Army failed to provide adequate support for $6.5 trillion in journal voucher adjustments. According to the GAO's Comptroller General, "Journal vouchers are summary-level accounting adjustments made when balances between systems cannot be reconciled. Often these journal vouchers are unsupported, meaning they lack supporting documentation to justify the adjustment or are not tied to specific accounting transactions…. For an auditor, journal vouchers are a red flag for transactions not being captured, reported, or summarized correctly."
(Note: After Mark Skidmore began inquiring about OIG-reported unsubstantiated adjustments, the OIG's webpage, which documented, albeit in a highly incomplete manner, these unsupported "accounting adjustments," was mysteriously taken down. No Pride Please: We're Canadians
RonnyCameron.com: A fraternity group known as the ProudBoys, a club whose members identify as Western Chauvinists, began receiving negative press from Canadian media outlets in July of this year when The Halifax Five – a group of ProudBoys who happened to be enlisted in the Canadian military, interrupted an anti Canada protest in Halifax where indigenous Canadians as well as individuals consisting of other ethnicities were denouncing Canada’s history. The men were subsequently labeled racists who according to the media disrespected an “indigenous ceremony”. Throughout the last several months members of the ProudBoys have been finding themselves the targets of discrimination from various individuals and groups ranging from university student associations, to business establishments, to the mainstream media, to the far left radical gang known as Antifa.
Despite having nothing to do with the advocacy of white supremacy or bigotry in any form, reports of ProudBoys being kicked out of bars and pubs across southern Ontario for simply being identified as members of the frat club have found there way to this blogger via social media and word of mouth, including one incident that was covered by blogTO – a major blog here in Toronto.

To an evolutionary biologist, such a religion is readily understood as an operating manual for group selective advantage. In contrast, Christianity, the religion of the West, was the creation of Roman imperialism that sought to bind the nations of the world within a single political system. Christianity is thus anti-racist (hence the parable of the good Samaritan), meritocratic (hence the parable of the talents), and anti-tribal (hence the Christian misinterpretation of the Sermon on the Mount, which was addressed by a Jew to other Jews on how Jews should treat one another, but which, in the aid of empire, was broadened to include everyone, of whatever, color, race or creed, as potential enemies to be forgiven*).

Unz Review, September 28, 2017: This is a topic which has had so much written about it that you could fill an entire city library with books entirely dedicated to this topic. Marx took a shot at it. As did Sartre. There were, of course, also plenty of good books written on this topic, but rather than list them all, I want to suggest a few simple common sense points and then go to what I consider an authoritative explanation of this thing we call “antisemitism” and which, of course, has nothing to do with Semites.
So first, let’s dump this silly term and replace it by a simple and straightforward one: judeophobia. Just like any other phobia (say, for example, russophobia) the phobia of X is the 1) fear and/or hatred of X. Some people hate Jews, others fear them (think of the “fear of the Jews” in the Scripture), some do both. So judeophobia seems both logical and uncontroversial to me.
Second, it is a truism to say that everything in the universe has a cause. That includes phobias. Including russophobia and judeophobia. For example, I would be the first person to admit that there are objective characteristics of the Russian people which makes other people fear and hate them. Like the fact that all western attempts at conquering Russia have failed. Or that the Russians have always, and still are, rejecting the Papacy. Just these two factors will create plenty of russophobia in the West, for sure.

It didn’t even occur to me to use my print column space for the purpose, given all the ongoing current horrors. But since I have a bit of time before my 14-hour flight, I thought I’d take a few minutes to talk about what was supposed to happen after 9/11, but didn’t.
In the weeks and months after the atrocity, news media had a narrative about what it meant – basically, that it was a Pearl Harbor moment that brought America together with a new seriousness and resolve. This was comforting and reassuring. It was also totally false, literally from the first minutes.

The already 16-year war in that country – America’s longest – will now go on indefinitely longer.
