Just after we thought the question about the origin of coronavirus has been settled, a new study from Norwegian virologist Birger Sørensen is now reigniting the debate about the possible origin of the deadly coronavirus. In a new peer-reviewed paper published together with Professor Angus Dalgleish of St George’s Hospital at the University of London, Sorensen claimed the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 is not natural in origin.
According to the study, which was published in the Quarterly Review of Biophysics, the authors found that the coronavirus’s spike protein contains sequences that appear to be artificially inserted. “The inserted sequences should never have been published. Had it been today, it would never have happened. It was a big mistake the Chinese made. The inserted sequences have a functionality that we describe. We explain why they are essential. But the Chinese pointed to them first,” Sørensen told the NRK.
Why would you shutter much of your economy, create Great Depression unemployment rates, and drive government budget deficits sky high, merely to combat Covid19? If you've been listening to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation or just about any other major media outlet in the Western world, you must know the reason: Covid19 is an existential threat on the scale of the Black Death that killed something like half the population of Eurasia during the Fourteenth Century. Except that it isn't. Covid19 kills almost no one. Well, almost no one compared with most other causes of death. In Canada, for example, about six and a half thousand deaths have been attributed, reliably or otherwise, to Covid 19. However, most of those deaths, 82% as of early May, have been of sick and elderly inmates of so-called care homes. So other than knocking over a few people within days, weeks, or at most, months of death due to other causes, Covid19 has thus far killed about 1200 Canadians, most of whom were old, or suffered other predisposing conditions such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, or respiratory disease.

In recent days a series of leaks across the globe have further shown the “official line” on coronavirus does not hold water.
Most people won’t get the virus.
Most of the people who get it won’t display symptoms.
Most of the people who display symptoms will only be mildly sick.
Most of the people with severe symptoms will never be critically ill.
And most of the people who get critically ill will survive.
This is borne out by the numerous serological studies which show, again and again, that the infection fatality ratio is on par with flu.
There is no science – and increasingly little rational discussion – to justify the lockdown measures and overall sense of global panic.
Nevertheless, it’s always good to get official acknowledgement of the truth, even if it has to be leaked.
We mourn for the 1200, and indeed for all of the six and a half thousand who's death was hastened, whether only slightly or substantially, by Covid19. But we strive also to keep things in perspective. While 1200 non-care home residents in Canada have been felled by Covid19, in 2018, the most recent year for which Stats Canada provides data, almost four times that many people killed themselves. Alzheimer's disease and diabetes each ended the lives of about five times as many, while the big three, cancer, heart disease and stroke between them carried off about 120 times as many. If combating the novel corona virus demands such heroic efforts to suppress it, should we not be devoting most of the national GDP to eliminating cancer? Or are there sinister forces at work that guide the government of our Castro-loving, Communist dictatorship-admiring, black-face wearing, Mr. Dress-up Trudeau? The question came to mind in response to a reader's comment:
"We still do not have mass testing or any truly statistically valid handle on the virus."
This fact is quite bizarre. Why would a government not monitor the spread of a disease by repeated serological surveys or other means, if it were seriously attempting to stop disease spread?
The challenge of such testing is not insuperable. China just completed 1.4 million tests in Wuhan in a single day, with the objective of testing the entire city -- population 11 million -- within ten days. Now Americans, Brits, Canadians, etc. are obviously not as smart, diligent or technically competent as the Chinese.
Still we could surely do a random survey -- you know, like an opinion poll. You select a few hundred people at random and, for a fee or some other inducement, you get them to submit to testing.
You do that every couple of days and then you know what you're dealing with.
However, if the goal is not to end the epidemic but to scare people, real information about the prevalence and lethality of the disease, even if it has been obtained, will naturally be withheld.
But why would governments want to scare people (and there is clear evidence of intent, e.g., here)? In order to maintain the lockdown.
And why would governments want to maintain the lockdown?
That, surely, is the essential question. What is the answer, I am unsure, but here are what seem the most obvious possibilities:
(1) To kill most of the small business sector, to the benefit of the big boys - Starbucks, MacDonald's, Amazon, etc. The objective, in other words, being to complete the transition in government from any semblance of democracy to a purely plutocratic system organized on a global basis.
(2) To drive up unemployment and thus depress wages, also to the benefit of the big boys.
(3) To drive down GDP and hence consumption spending leading to reductions in all kinds of pollution, carbon dioxide, plebs at the better beaches and tourist spots, traffic congestion, etc.
"Canada Warns Against the Folly of Herd Immunity," blares the top story at Bourque.org, with a link to an article on, where else, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's website.
The CBC article, titled more informatively: "Canada's top doctor warns against relying on herd immunity to reopen economy," suggests that the powers that be in Canada want the population to remain cowed and fearful over the novel Corona virus for a while yet.
The CBC article quotes, Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada's Chief Public Health Officer saying: "The idea of ... generating natural immunity is actually not something that should be undertaken," which leaves little room for confidence in the scientific competence of Canada's top public health official.
The CBC article does helpfully -- sort of, explain the concept of "herd immunity," saying:
Herd immunity is conferred when enough people in a given population have been infected with a virus, marking them immune to reinfection and slowing down the rate at which the virus spreads on its own.
which is almost right, but not quite, making it quite wrong. Herd immunity is achieved when enough people have immunity that the average number of people each infected person infects is less than one. It's at that point that the number of new infections begins to fall, and to fall at an accelerating rate until it reaches zero, at which point the epidemic is over.

In most jurisdictions in Europe and North America, infection rates are declining, indicating that herd immunity has been achieved. However, the proportion of the population with immunity that is required to achieve herd immunity depends on social dynamics. That is, it depends on the number of people each infected person comes into contact with and may, therefore, infect. Furthermore, social dynamics in most countries have been radically modified by quarantines, lock-downs, school and business shut-downs and other social distancing measures.
What that means is that a return to normality will increase the number of people without immunity that each infected person contacts. In turn, that means that a return to normality will reverse the achievement of herd immunity that obtained under the conditions of controlled social interaction. As a consequence, the rate of new infections will increase until the number of people with immunity rises to the point at which herd immunity is regained.
So, yes, attainment of herd immunity under near universal house arrest does not mean everything can return to normal without a cost in terms of an increased rate of new infections. But herd immunity must be reached or the disease will rage on until everyone has been infected.
And, yes, there are different ways of getting to herd immunity, not all of which have the same outcome. If you "take it on the chin," to use Boris Johnson's term for the idea of going for herd immunity without modifying social arrangements, hospitals will be overloaded with severe cases, mortuaries will be unable to deal with the piles of bodies that accumulate, and there will be general panic and despair.
But if you delay the achievement of herd immunity by shutting the economy for too long, there will be many bad consequences too, including the loss of economic output, the loss of schooling, and for some people, probably, the loss of their sanity.
The best course, therefore, now that declining new infection rates indicate that herd immunity has been achieved, is a progressive return to normality. Schools opening first, perhaps, then a staged return to work by other sectors, with massive Covid-19 testing being conducted to ensure that the return to work does not drive the rate of new infections to the point of creating chaos.
Meantime, creating panic and fear seems to be the mandate of the global medical establishment. Thus, on Friday, the World health Organization (WHO) announced that there is "currently no evidence" that people who have recovered from COVID-19 and have antibodies are protected from a second infection.
Well anything is possible and perhaps we are all doomed to get Covid19 over and over again until civilization collapses and Greta Thunberg is fulfilled, as the smog abates and carbon dioxide concentrations subside to pre-human levels. But what the WHOOO-HOOOO said is bunk as confirmed when it later issued a clarification to the effect that most people infected would end up with "some level of protection."
So, yes, Covid19 is a nasty disease that, in New York City, one of the worst hit places, is killing around 0.35% of those infected, but it won't kill us all. What's more, if you are under 65, your risk of death from Covid19 is probably less than that of being killed driving to the office, or so it has been calculated by the distinguished epidemiologist, John Ioannides of Standford University's Medical Faculty.
Contrary to to the Chinese Communist Party apologists over at the Unz Review and elsewhere, Professor Luc Montagnier, who won the Nobel Prize for the discovery of the HIV or AIDS virus, believes that Covid 19, aka SARS-CoV-2, is a man-made entity accidentally released from China's only Level 4 biohazard (i.e., biowarfare) lab, which is located in Wuhan, China.
Professor Montagnier is reported by Zero Hedge to have stated that the laboratory in Wuhan is known for its work on coronaviruses and tried to use one of these viruses as a vector for HIV in the search for an AIDS vaccine.
Further, Prof. Montagnier stated that, with a colleague, the biomathematician jean-Claude Perez, he had "carefully analyzed the description of the genome of this RNA virus" and concluded that it contained sequences from the HIV (AIDS) virus. Moreover, he said:
Indian researchers have already tried to publish the results of the analyses that showed that this coronavirus genome contained sequences of another virus, … the HIV virus (AIDS virus), but they were forced to withdraw their findings as the pressure from the mainstream was too great.
Questioned as to whether the Covid19 virus may have come from a patient who is otherwise infected with HIV, Dr. Montagnier replied:
No,in order to insert an HIV sequence into this genome, molecular tools are needed, and that can only be done in a laboratory..
Conspiracy theories, the CBC warns, can be “just as dangerous as a virus.” they then suggest:
“Maybe send [your conspiracy theorist Dad] an article from a legitimate source quoting credible scientists on why the virus wasn’t manufactured.”
Almost needless to say, the suggested article comes from the CBC and is entitled ‘No, the new coronavirus wasn’t created in a lab, scientists say.”
However, as Fox News has just reported, quite apart from the Nobel Prize winning virologist Luc Montagnier, it is now believed by a number of those in a position to make an informed assessment that Covid19 did indeed leak from a laboratory in Wuhan.
Is the novel Corona virus scare a hoax to change public attitudes about the care and maintenance of the elderly, or to facilitate acceptance of compulsory vaccination?
Here's one doctor's assessment (if the video doesn't play for you here, you can get it directly from U-Tube, unless it's been flushed).
What that article shows is that despite the near ideal conditions for disease transmission, a closely confined and highly social population, 83% of passengers aboard the Diamond Princess were uninfected.
Of those infected, almost half were without disease symptoms. Of those made ill, mortality was 1.2%. And of those who died all were over 70 years of age.
Does a disease like that seem like a good reason for shuttering the economy, flinging public funds in all directions, stiffing the people with massive new debt while debasing the currency, and imposing a near police-state level of supervision to prevent people from going about their lives as they see fit?
But if you are still worried about dying of what can certainly be a nasty illness, we'd advise taking 2000 units of Vitamin D, daily. Vitamin D upregulates production of innate antibiotics by the endogenous immune system, and in a controlled study has been shown to massively reduce susceptibility to flu infection. March 19, 2020: Today, deaths in Italy due to the the novel Corona virus reached a total of 3,405.
The average age of those who died was 79.5 years.
Most who died suffered from one or several other diseases, including heart disease, emphysema and diabetes.
Prior to the COVID19 outbreak, Italy's death rate was running at about 10.6 per thousand, equivalent to 639,000 per year for the country as a whole.
So deaths attributable to the novel Corona virus have thus far increased Italy's death rate for the year by at most one half of one percent.
However, since most of those carried away by the Corona virus were both very old and more or less seriously ill due to other causes, many, probably most, would have died in the current year anyway.
Therefore, when 2020 ends, the effect of the Corona virus on Italy's death toll for the year may be rather small to negligible.
Yet the Western nations are shutting down their economies and debauching the government finances in the name of what is merely another strain of flu.
Looks like a colossal scam from which those with inside knowledge of government planning will make fortunes.
What Governments should be doing is something sensible like urging old folks to self-isolate, providing old-folks with home delivery of food, medicine, etc., and getting everyone to take at least 1000 units of vitamin D every day.
Radical measures beyond such obvious, minimal and sensible actions, should prompt voters to punish governments severely, as in booting from office, for buggering up the economy, and creating schemes for looting the treasury. Trump Out, Trudeau Out, Xi Out, etc.
Over at the Unz Review, multiple articles and lame arguments have been presented for the notion that Covid19 is an American biowarfare agent aimed at China, intended to disrupt China's economy.
Problem is there's virtually no way of knowing if that is true, and if it were true it would indicate that the US Government is inept beyond belief, since such an act of sabotage would almost certainly come back on America and cause devastation at least equal to that wrought in China.
In any case, debate about the source of the novel corona virus, whether it derives from a Chinese biowarfare lab or from an American biowarfare lab, or maybe from Israel, and who, if anyone, is responsible for launching it upon the world, is futile.
There is no way of knowing how this pandemic started, short of total incompetence or confession on the part of those responsible.
To launch a plague undetected is the easiest thing in the world.
The responsible party, whether acting with deliberation or by inadvertence, will almost certainly never be identified.
But one thing's for certain. There's no need for 300 American soldiers in Wuhan to do the job, to mention a theory to which Ron Unz repeatedly alludes.
Just one person with a pair of contaminated gloves will do it: visit the supermarket, touch this, touch that, smear the shopping cart handle, then drop the gloves where someone is likely to pick them up and contaminate themselves and others, then stand back and watch as the magic of exponential growth takes over.
In Canada, local transmission “is going to be widespread, it’s going to be severe”.
And that's a key fact you have to understand if you want a plausible theory of the origin of this plague. The thing's a boomerang. It hits those who launch it as hard as those they launched it against, assuming, that is, that this plague is is the result of deliberate human action, unlike all the other plagues that have emerged from China without human intent, from the Black Death in the 14th Century, to the Asian flu of 1958, the swine flu the chicken flu, etc.
Another key fact about this novel Corona virus, whether it is man-made or naturally occuring, is that it kills the old, not the young.
So who benefits?
Both China and America: each with rapidly aging populations and a problem financing the maintenance of the elderly.
What's a government to do? Kill off the useless eaters with this handy virus, obviously.
So no, pretty certainly, China didn't do this to America and America did not do this to China. But it could be a joint operation using a virus modified by scientists of both countries, working, as we know, in collaboration on means to enhance the pathogenicity, or achieve gain-of-function, as the techies of doom like to say, of bat flu viruses.
The novel corona virus COVID-19 has three interesting properties:
(1) It is highly infectious;
(2) It has a high lethality, killing something like 3% of those infected;
(3) Risk of mortality increases with age.
What that means is that:
(a) Most people throughout the world will likely contract the disease within the next couple of years;
(b) Several hundred million people worldwide will die from the disease;
(c) Most deaths will be of pensioners in the most developed nations.
What that all means is that:
(i) The burden of social security in the most developed nations will be radically lifted as the number of pensioners is cut by 10 to 30%, and perhaps by well over half if the virus returns over a number of years;
(ii) The number of young people engaged in the "eldercare" business will be radically reduced;
(iii) The cost of housing will fall and fertility rates will rise as the transfer of assets from the old to the young accelerates.
The most important net effect will be to save the Western nations from self genocide by suppression of native fertility (due to the burden of high housing and social services costs) and an end to mass population replacement immigration as native workers are released from service to the older generation, and thus freed to take the jobs that "natives won't do."
Whether as the result of a lucky accident or the planned release of an engineered virus, the overall effects will likely be judged by historians to have been beneficial.
Vox Popoli questioned the high mortality on the ground that if the Chinese mortality rate were 16% one would have expected a comparable rate outside of China, which is not the case. This evoked some illuminating reader comments, including the following:
10. The real Chinese death rate is the death rate with no medical care, in unheated buildings, in winter. The Western death rate is what you get with basic life support and central heating. 16% versus 2% might be plausible.
24. The high death toll might be accounted for because it's been designed (nature or otherwise) to kill Asian men.
25. You can see the real infection rate more accurately reflected in the number of infected among evacuees: Belgium, 1/9; Japan, 3/200; South Korea, 11/368. These numbers are statistically impossible with the reported infection rates.
58. They wouldn’t have quarantined 50 million plus people, have crematoriums working 24/7, be spraying the streets, be frantically building “hospitals”, limiting testing kits, etc., if the real numbers of infected and dead were the official figures.
Another anomaly in the reported infection rates is the difference between the rate for foreign nationals in China and Chinese nationals. China has reported 19 infections among foreign nationals in China, which out of a population of 50,000 foreign nationals in China, means an infection rate of 0.00038%. Applied to the population of Chinese nationals, that rate of infection would equate to a total of 530,000 infections.
Even if the population of foreign nationals in China is ten times that reported, an equivalent infection rate among Chinese nationals would be over fifty thousand, which is almost twice the rate China is currently reporting.
However, if the number of foreign nationals in China totals a million or so, then the infection rate among foreign nationals would confirm the validity of the numbers reported by the Chinese Government.
