How Most Canadians Used to Handle a Cold

About a fifty years ago, "How Most Canadians Handle a Cold," was the caption to an add for Beyer aspirin. But, wow, how the country has changed. Today, frightened by models devised by mathematicians entirely divorced from reality -- people who would approximate a donkey by a sphere, a triangle or whatever made the mathematics work -- Canada's leaders have trashed the economy to minimize the risk of what appears to be not much more than a cold.

What’s amazing is that neither the modelers nor the politicians nor their medical advisors have yet been dunked in a pond.

What we have done is shutter something like one third of the economy because of a virus that has, supposedly (i.e., based on extremely dodgy statistics), killed about six thousand Canadians of whom, all but 1200 were elderly care-home residents who received a death sentence from the medical establishment that decreed that sick old people with Covid19 should be moved out of hospital into a care home. The result? Patients with Covid19 transferred to care homes infected, and thus cause the death of, multiple other care-home residents.

The twelve hundred Canadian deaths of non-care home residents attributed thus far to Covid19 is less than a third of Canada’s yearly death toll from suicide, one sixth of the annual rate of death due to diabetes (i.e., excess sugar consumption in a diet of which almost one-third of calories come from sugar), and one tenth of the rate of death due to accidents.

But apparently, to suppress a virus that has thus far killed fewer than the seasonal flu, we in Canada opted to wreck the economy, and gave our Communist dictatorship-admiring, Castro-loving, jet-setting environmentalist, Prime Minister Dress Up freedom to piss away about a third of the GDP paying people not to work.

Here's a comment from an actual expert on viral respiratory diseases:

Dr. John Oxford, virologist, Professor at Queen Mary College, University of London, and a leading expert on influenza, including bird flu and the 1918 Spanish Influenza, and HIV/AIDS.

What he says:

Personally, I would say the best advice is to spend less time watching TV news which is sensational and not very good. Personally, I view this Covid outbreak as akin to a bad winter influenza epidemic. In this case we have had 8000 deaths this last year in the ‘at risk’ groups viz over 65% people with heart disease etc. I do not feel this current Covid will exceed this number. We are suffering from a media epidemic! Source

So why the continued lock-down?

Many unofficial reports are now emerging that reveal Covid19 infection rates in the general population that are huge multiples of officially reported rates.

 That means that infection rates in many communities are pretty certainly past the point necessary to achieve herd immunity, which is to say the point at which the disease spreads with ever increasing difficulty before dying out entirely.

Yet no government has reported a survey of the general public to determine whether herd immunity has been achieved.

Why not?

Presumably, because governments do not want the public to know.

And that presumably, is because governments want the lock-downs to continue for reasons quite other than those stated.

What are those ulterior and unstated motives?

Interesting question that:

To drive up unemployment while destroying small businesses that are the chief employers of low-wage labor?

Why would governments want this?

Many reasons come to mind. Here are a couple:

1. By creating a much larger pool of the unemployed, a desperate and docile pool of cheap labor is made available to the corporate giants that own the government.

2. While thousands upon thousands of small business that have been forcibly closed -- shops, restaurants, a multiplicity of service enterprises -- the big boys, Amazon, Star Bucks, Tim Hortons, Crispy Kreme will have been planning how to take over the space newly created for their own expansion.

3. Or is the objective simply to create widespread poverty on a permanent basis?

Is it the idea that living standards for the majority having been crushed, they are to remain crushed?

What, after all, is the point of so many people stuffing their faces with junk food, pissing away energy and other resources on  hedonistic cruise vacations, trips to Vegas and stuffing themselves with toxic, obesity- and diabetes-inducing  grease- and sugar- loaded junk food.

Welcome to the new peonage.

COVID19 Death Toll in Italy: No Need to Panic Yet, or Probably, Ever

March 19, 2020: Today, deaths in Italy due to the the novel Corona virus reached a total of 3,405.

The average age of those who died was 79.5 years.

Most who died suffered from one or several other diseases, including heart disease, emphysema and diabetes.

Prior to the COVID19 outbreak, Italy's death rate was running at about 10.6 per thousand, equivalent to 639,000 per year for the country as a whole.

So deaths attributable to the novel Corona virus have thus far increased Italy's death rate for the year by at most one half of one percent.

However, since most of those carried away by the Corona virus were both very old and more or less seriously ill due to other causes, many, probably most, would have died in the current year anyway.

Therefore, when 2020 ends, the effect of the Corona virus on Italy's death toll for the year may be rather small to negligible.

Yet the Western nations are shutting down their economies and debauching the government finances in the name of what is merely another strain of flu.

Looks like a colossal scam from which those with inside knowledge of government planning will make fortunes.

What Governments should be doing is something sensible like urging old folks to self-isolate, providing old-folks with home delivery of food, medicine, etc., and getting everyone to take at least 1000 units of vitamin D every day.

Radical measures beyond such obvious, minimal and sensible actions, should prompt voters to punish governments severely, as in booting from office, for buggering up the economy, and creating schemes for looting the treasury. Trump Out, Trudeau Out, Xi Out, etc.
