Wall St. Journal: The Science Suggests a Wuhan Lab Leak

Wall St. Journal, June 6, 2021: The possibility that the pandemic began with an escape from the Wuhan Institute of Virology is attracting fresh attention. President Biden has asked the national intelligence community to redouble efforts to investigate.
Much of the public discussion has focused on circumstantial evidence: mysterious illnesses in late 2019; the lab’s work intentionally supercharging viruses to increase lethality (known as “gain of function” research). The Chinese Communist Party has been reluctant to release relevant information. Reports based on U.S. intelligence have suggested the lab collaborated on projects with the Chinese military.
A genome is a blueprint for the factory of a cell to make proteins. The language is made up of three-letter “words,” 64 in total, that represent the 20 different amino acids. For example, there are six different words for the amino acid arginine, the one that is often used in supercharging viruses. Every cell has a different preference for which word it likes to use most.
In the case of the gain-of-function supercharge, other sequences could have been spliced into this same site. Instead of a CGG-CGG (known as “double CGG”) that tells the protein factory to make two arginine amino acids in a row, you’ll obtain equal lethality by splicing any one of 35 of the other two-word combinations for double arginine. If the insertion takes place naturally, say through recombination, then one of those 35 other sequences is far more likely to appear; CGG is rarely used in the class of coronaviruses that can recombine with CoV-2.
In fact, in the entire class of coronaviruses that includes CoV-2, the CGG-CGG combination has never been found naturally. That means the common method of viruses picking up new skills, called recombination, cannot operate here. A virus simply cannot pick up a sequence from another virus if that sequence isn’t present in any other virus.
Although the double CGG is suppressed naturally, the opposite is true in laboratory work. The insertion sequence of choice is the double CGG. That’s because it is readily available and convenient, and scientists have a great deal of experience inserting it. An additional advantage of the double CGG sequence compared with the other 35 possible choices: It creates a useful beacon that permits the scientists to track the insertion in the laboratory.
Now the damning fact. It was this exact sequence that appears in CoV-2. Proponents of zoonotic origin must explain why the novel coronavirus, when it mutated or recombined, happened to pick its least favorite combination, the double CGG. Why did it replicate the choice the lab’s gain-of-function researchers would have made?
Yes, it could have happened randomly, through mutations. But do you believe that? At the minimum, this fact—that the coronavirus, with all its random possibilities, took the rare and unnatural combination used by human researchers—implies that the leading theory for the origin of the coronavirus must be laboratory escape.
When the lab’s Shi Zhengli and colleagues published a paper in February 2020 with the virus’s partial genome, they omitted any mention of the special sequence that supercharges the virus or the rare double CGG section. Yet the fingerprint is easily identified in the data that accompanied the paper. Was it omitted in the hope that nobody would notice this evidence of the gain-of-function origin?
But in a matter of weeks virologists Bruno Coutard and colleagues published their discovery of the sequence in CoV-2 and its novel supercharged site. Double CGG is there; you only have to look. They comment in their paper that the protein that held it “may provide a gain-of-function” capability to the virus, “for efficient spreading” to humans.
There is additional scientific evidence that points to CoV-2’s gain-of-function origin. The most compelling is the dramatic differences in the genetic diversity of CoV-2, compared with the coronaviruses responsible for SARS and MERS.
Both of those were confirmed to have a natural origin; the viruses evolved rapidly as they spread through the human population, until the most contagious forms dominated. Covid-19 didn’t work that way. It appeared in humans already adapted into an extremely contagious version. No serious viral “improvement” took place until a minor variation occurred many months later in England.
Such early optimization is unprecedented, and it suggests a long period of adaptation that predated its public spread. Science knows of only one way that could be achieved: simulated natural evolution, growing the virus on human cells until the optimum is achieved. That is precisely what is done in gain-of-function research. Mice that are genetically modified to have the same coronavirus receptor as humans, called “humanized mice,” are repeatedly exposed to the virus to encourage adaptation.
The presence of the double CGG sequence is strong evidence of gene splicing, and the absence of diversity in the public outbreak suggests gain-of-function acceleration. The scientific evidence points to the conclusion that the virus was developed in a laboratory.

In early May, the announcement that Bill and Melinda Gates would be divorcing after twenty-seven years of marriage shocked both those that praise and those that loathe the “philanthropic” power couple.
Less than a week after the initial announcement of the divorce, on May 7, the Daily Beast reported that Melinda Gates had allegedly been “deeply troubled” by Bill Gates’s relationship with child sex trafficker and intelligence asset Jeffrey Epstein. The report suggested that Melinda was a major reason for her husband’s decision to distance himself from Epstein around 2014 because of her discomfort with Epstein after they both met him in 2013. That previously unreported meeting had taken place at Epstein’s mansion on New York’s Upper East Side.
The Daily Beast also revealed that the details of the Gates’s divorce had been decided several weeks prior to the official announcement. Then, on May 9, the Wall Street Journal published a report suggesting that the plans for divorce went back even farther, with Melinda having consulted divorce lawyers in 2019. Allegedly, that consultation was made after details of Bill Gates’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein had gained considerable mainstream media attention, including from the New York Times.
While mainstream media outlets apparently agree that Jeffrey Epstein was a likely factor in the Gates’s recently announced split up, what these same outlets refuse to cover is the real extent of the Bill Gates–Jeffrey Epstein relationship. Indeed, the mainstream narrative holds that Gates’s ties to Epstein began in 2011, despite the evidence pointing to their relationship beginning decades earlier.
This blanket refusal to honestly report on the Gates-Epstein ties likely is due to Gates’s outsized role in current events, both in terms of global health policy as it relates to COVID-19 and in his being a major promoter and funder of controversial technocratic “solutions” to a slew of societal problems. What is more likely, however, is that the nature of the relationship between Gates and Epstein before 2011 is even more scandalous than what transpired later, and it may have major implications not just for Gates but for Microsoft as a company and for some of its former top executives.
This particular cover-up is part of an obvious tendency of mainstream media to ignore the clear influence that both Epstein and members of the Maxwell family wielded—and, arguably, continue to wield—in Silicon Valley. Indeed, the individuals who founded tech giants such as Google, LinkedIn, Facebook, Microsoft, Tesla, and Amazon all have connections with Jeffrey Epstein, some closer than others.

The Origin of Covid: An Interesting Observation
Here's a comment from a discussion over at Unz.com:
That the SARS-COV2 viral outbreak in China in late 2019 was of the less infectious L Strain, not the G Strain that afflicted the rest of the world, would explain several otherwise curious facts; namely,
(1) that China contained the initial outbreak quickly and with very few deaths; and
(2) that China is currently resorting to lockdowns to limit new outbreaks of SARS-COV2 that are, presumably of the more infectious and virulent G Strain that originated outside of China.
As the author of the comment quoted above notes, that the global pandemic began with more than one viral strain raises new questions about the origin and global spread of SARS-COV2.
Time for Fauci and Gates to Sweat

Fauci has been nothing more, his entire career, than a tool to the elites who run the country from behind the scenes.
It may be-- maybe-- now the octogenarian tool will be used as the scapegoat for the whole ugly destructive mess.
"We were listening to Dr. Fauci, the nation's 'chief immunologist'-- what else could we do? We had no idea, no idea at all, he was this corrupt. We didn't know he was the bad apple at NIH, spoiling the bunch of great scientific work they otherwise do there."
Dr. Fauci has been touted as if all-knowing, the scientist who knows more than any other scientist, and even knows, just by looking at it, what's credible and what is not.
I mean, come on, look at this. Facebook and Google were censoring anyone who mentioned the lab leak theory. Even though the lab leak theory was the one best supported by what we knew.
A virus with bat and pangolin and then a special furin-activating site which just happened to activate infectivity into humans. Suspected to have originated in a place in China known to have a lab conducting precisely such "gain of function" research, and where lab workers had been hospitalized with "covid-like" symptoms prior to the general outbreak.
But the nation's chief immunologist said that was ridiculous, so it was ridiculous. Until now, when it may turn out to be convenient for the powers that be the nation's chief immunologist be revealed as a conniving buffoon.
If I was Fauci, I would be sweating. But it does look as if he's been sweating all along...
If I was Bill Gates, I would be sweating. Fauci and Gates are connected somehow and this is understood among those paying attention. But Gates probably isn't sweating. Nor has he been sweating all along. He is far too stupid and removed from the realities of daily plebian life to see how vulnerable he actually is right now.

Blaming America for China's Covid lab leak?
Did the virus responsible for the Covid-19 pandemic come from China's Virology Research Institute in Wuhan?
And if so, did it get loose by accident or design.
Today the English speaking media seem to have abandoned the idea that the virus came by chance from a bat to humans, possibly by way of an intermediate vector such as a pangolin.
Instead, the story now is that the virus most likely escaped from China's Wuhan institute of virology, when workers there became infected and took the virus home with them, thereby setting the virus on course to infect, first, the people of Wuhan, and then the World.
The Unz Review (Prop. Ron Unz) however, is fiercely combating that meme, arguing in a series of articles by Ron himself that the pandemic is a 100% American-made fiasco and that to suggest any Chinese responsibility is a gross libel on that unfortunate nation, emanating from a US Government described by one Unz.com commenter as "a collection of liars, murderers and thieves acting in bad faith," which I suppose is a fair description -- a fair description, in fact, of just about any government, including, quite possibly, China's.
In his latest piece, Mr. Unz offers fifty two hundred words to distract from the fact that Wuhan virologists, with indirect US funding via Dr. Fauci's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, were evaluating chimeric corona viruses for human infectivity, as tested on human tissue cultures and humanized mice. Details are reported here:
The pandemic has thus, almost certainly, been the result of US:Chinese collaboration. And that collaboration either led to an unintended lab leak, or to an exercise to evaluate pandemic control measures in anticipation of someone accidentally or deliberately letting loose a corona virus with a lethality of 50% plus, not Covid's 0.05%.

SARS COV 2 Pandemic: A Joint US:China Biowarfare Defense Exercise?
Is Covid a synthetic virus deployed in a joint US:Chinese exercise to game a pandemic due to a deadly biological weapon of mass destruction?
Accepting that to be so, then the novel corona virus, SARS-CoV2, which is of the type responsible for the common cold, must have been deployed because it is virtually harmless except to elderly people who are liable to be carried off by even a mild respiratory infection.
However, this particular strain of corona virus has been souped up through joint US:Chinese "gain-of-function" research to be highly infectious, as would be required of a real WMD.
The PCR test was adopted as the standard means of identifying cases because the symptoms of Covid infection were too hard to detect, there being no swollen lymph nodes (buboes), pocks, vomiting of blood, etc., to distinguish the infection from, well, a just a common cold.
To induce the state of fear necessary to induce people to participate in the exercise, the virus was released in the vicinity of a Chinese bioweapons research establishment.
To make the virus especially scary, it was reported to have jumped from bats to humans -- yikes.
Then the Chinese put on a fine bit of theartre, with folks supposedly stricken by the virus dropping in the streets, going into paroxysms, etc.
Other videos showed people in China being nailed up in their homes or being doused in the streets by trucks spraying disinfectant.
In First World nations, infected hospital patients were forced into care homes for the elderly causing a die-off among the useless eaters. Thus in Canada, over 70% of all reported Covid deaths were "achieved" in this way.
Now almost everyone was scared and there was no trouble getting folks to mask up, while seeking always to maintain their distance from every other human on the face of the earth, even the flesh of their own flesh, their partner in marriage.
To maintain the fear, the PRC test was amped to give massive numbers of false positive "cases," while anyone dying within 28 days of a positive test was declared a Covid "death" even if the proximal cause of death happened to have been a motor vehicle accident or a bullet to the head.
Meantime, big pharma worked for a big pay-day by producing a novel type of "vaccine" that does not give you real immunity, just some antibodies to be going on with until a top-up shot, or booster, is required.
Most people were scared enough by now to get "vaccinated" as soon as possible, and those who were reluctant were being bullied into it by being labelled vaccine hesitant, anti-vaxx or just plain conspiracy nuts.
Moreover, the "hesitant" were threatened with the introduction of a vaccine passport, for the lack thereof, they would be barred from virtually every social space and function, a fate unavoidable without getting the shot, plus the booster and the top-up and whatever else the authorities decide it is necessary that the people be injected with.
Meantime the case count as determined by the dodgy PCR test showed the virus to be coming in waves, while genome analysis showed it to be fissioning into multiple variants, each potentially more deadly than the last.
Thus it was decided that salvation, for which the people were now desperately anxious, could be achieved only by locking all but essential workers at home.
Lockdowns, at first known only in totalitarian China, were now essential throughout the developed world, although poorer countries, where lockdown was impractical since it would mean general starvation, seemed to suffer no worse from Covid than the developed world.
But even in the developed world, lockdowns were not without catastrophic consequences for millions upon millions of small business, many of which have been driven to permanent closure.
Meantime, at vast public expense, governments established schemes to track and trace the virus, and great fortunes must have been made by those with good government connections in the face-mask and hand sanitizer, and PCR testing sectors of the economy.
At some point, in the next 12 months, the exercise will hopefully be wound up and the world will return to something like normal, but better prepared,perhaps, for all out war with biological weapons of mass destruction.

In this presentation Dr. Yeadon makes no claim that the vaccines are designed to kill people. Furthermore, he says he'd "like to know what's in them," which suggests that he had no real basis for having previously claimed that the vaccines, or the top-up or booster shots, were designed to depopulate the world.

Dr. Michael Yeadon, Former Pfizer Inc. VP and Chief Science Officer, Undermines Own Anti-Vaxx Message With Claim That Vaccines Are Designed to Kill Ya
Yesterday I summarized key points made by Dr. Michael Yeadon, former Pfizer Inc. VP and Chief Science Officer, concerning Covid vaccines and and the public policy response to the Covid pandemic. Here, I consider the validity of four of those claims.
First: asymptomatic transmission is a lie.
This is the premise of Yeadon's claim that locking down asymptomatic people, as a means to stop viral spread, makes no sense.
On the face of it, the claim is plausible: Only when the virus has multiplied sufficiently to induce coughing, sneezing, and a running nose is the virus easily spread, whether by physical contact or the spread of airborne droplets of mucus and saliva.
Thus, says Yeadon, we should quarantine the sick not the healthy, "that is what we have always done."
But what we have always done does not stop viral spread as the almost yearly return of the flu confirms, despite the fact that people expressing symptoms of the flu stay home.
And the reason that people with the flu staying home does not stop the spread is for the obvious reason that until they become symptomatic, people infected by the flu virus do not stay home, which means that there is "asymptomatic transmission."
In particular, "asymptomatic transmission" most likely occurs during the few hours between a person becoming aware that they are sick and the time they are able to sequester themselves at home.
Thus, it is not necessarily a mistake to quarantine all but essential workers during an epidemic of what is considered a dangerous disease.
Moreover, even if it is true, as Yeadon claims, that "we have never done that," i.e., quarantine the healthy, that fact has no bearing on the question of the best public policy today. Furthermore, there is a clear distinction between the present circumstances, and hence the most appropriate policies, and times of epidemics past.
For example, in London, during the plague years of the early 17th Century, infected individuals were required to remain at home. Any seen in public with the marks of the plague upon them were liable to death by hanging.
But that asymptomatic individuals were free to go about their business in plague-ridden London during the early sixteen hundreds was a matter of absolute necessity for the reason that a large proportion of the population was essential to maintain the production and distribution of food and other essential services.
Today, economic conditions are totally different. In the developed world, a mere one percent of the population is sufficient to maintain full agricultural production, and another several percent suffice to move and process the food, keep the lights on, chlorinate the water, and run the sewage plant. For the rest, they might just as well be locked up if that is what it takes to "bend the curve."
Second: Immunity to infection depends, primarily, not on antibodies, but on T-cells.
Is that claim true? As a non expert, I won't presume to say. However, it seems to be the case that robust and durable immunity to a viral pathogen does depend on T-Cell immunity, whereas, antibody immunity, for example that induced by "vaccination" with Covid spike protein mRNA, even if effective in preventing the manifestation of disease in infected individuals, will likely fade within months.
Third: Covid is less of a threat that the flu, except to the elderly and those with certain predisposing conditions
This I believe is correct and it underlies Yeadon's message, which is this:
We should have allowed Covid to spread freely, while seeking to quarantine only the elderly and others at particular risk of death from Covid. Had that been the policy adopted, herd immunity would have been achieved before the end of last year, and Covid, otherwise known as SARS COV 2 would be a thing of the past, as is the case with SARS COV 1 with which it has an 80% genetic similarity.
Fourth: Booster shots now being prepared by Yeadon's old employer Pfizer Inc. and other mRNA vaccine suppliers will be designed not only to handle Covid variants that escape control by the current Covid vaccines, but to induce genetic diseases, cancer, liver failure whatever, as a population reduction measure.
This has to be nonsense. Genetic vaccines, whether of RNA or DNA cannot have secret ingredients. There must be literally thousands of people around the world capable of reading the nucleotide sequence of a nucleic acid "vaccine" and understanding its intended purpose. The inclusion, for example, of CRISPR technology to modify the genetic code of the treated person would be immediately apparent, likewise the inclusion of cancer-causing genes or other lethal components. What that means is that the monstrous crime against humanity that Yeadon proclaims to be the purpose of the ongoing Covid vaccination program would be impossible to perpetrate without exposure.
But if Yeadon's key point is nonsense, what does that mean? Possible it means simply that Dr. Yeadon is off his head. That does happen to highly intelligent people, and there is no doubt that Yeadon is highly intelligent.
Alternatively, the explanation seems to be that Yeadon is a mouthpiece for extremely nasty propaganda, which works as follows:
Yeadon's key point, that the vaccines are a depopulation weapon designed to kill you, is obvious nonsense, therefore, everything Yeadon says is nonsense, which thus falsifies the idea that:
(a) Instead of wrecking economies with lockdowns, Governments should have allowed the virus uncontrolled spread to achieve herd immunity, which would have ended the SARS COV 2 pandemic, months ago.
(b) That antibody-inducing M-RNA "vaccines" are essentially useless if not worse than useless.
So it would appear that whatever his intention, Yeadon's public statements about Covid vaccines have the perverse effect of convincing many people that Covid-related public policies pursued by Western governments, including the planned introduction of vaccine passports which Yeadon has quite correctly, in my view, inveighed against, have all been for the best in the best of all possible worlds, whereas in fact, the opposite is almost certainly case.

Is that true. As a non expert, I don't know. But the whole objective of the mRNA vaccines is to induce antibodies. And in particular, it is claimed that the antibodies produced are "neutralizing", which means that they resist infection. It is on this point that Yeadon is in total disagreement with vaccine specialist Geert vanden Bossche, who argues that immunity achieved with the mRNA vaccines will be lost as genetic variants of the virus emerge that escape control by the antibodies induced by the vaccines. Yeadon has gone so far as to call vanden Bossche's position evil, i.e, deliberately false. 7. Yeadon claims, correctly I believe, that Covid variants will not escape Covid T-cell immunity. With respect to this point, however, it is the case that apart from those who have already been infected with Covid or a sufficiently closely related Corona virus, none have Covid T-cell immunity. Moreover, Yeadon does not deal with the question of neutralizing Covid antibodies, i.e., whether the mRNA vaccines can in fact work, or whether even minor genetic differentiation in the circulating virus result in immune escape from vaccine induced antibodies. Rather, Yeadon turns to the "top-up" vaccines being prepared now to induce antibody immunity to the antibody immune-escape variants. These booster shots, he fears, are designed not to restore Covid immunity but to use genetic technology to kill you. Unfortunately, there is no real public debate among experts to discuss these issues. Specifically about: (a) How effective can antibody immunity to Covid be (the number of so-called break-through Covid infections of vaccinated individuals suggests that it is not very effective) and how rapidly is Covid escape from antibody immunity through genetic differentiation occurring; and (b) What possibility exists that an intentionally lethal mechanism could be included in a supposed antibody inducing mRNA vaccine? Instead, we have merely propaganda deployed against anyone who questions the pretty certainly badly if not catastrophically flawed public policy response to Covid-19. |
