The World-Saving Electric Car Hoax

Electric cars are quieter, accelerate faster and are cheaper to maintain than gas-powered cars. I say that based on personal experience. Moreover, many governments, Canada's for example, will force your poorer neighbor who drives a clapped-out gas-guzzler not only to subsidize your electric car purchase, but to pay a carbon tax on gasoline too. LOL.

But if you have an electric car, virtue is on your side. You are helping save us all from an 'orrible death from climate change caused by carbon emissions.

Except, well, not, since, for one thing, electricity has a carbon footprint of its own, especially when generated by burning diesel as, for instance, at this Tesla charging station.

And then there are multiple other reasons why owning an electric car will do nothing to lower your carbon footprint. For one thing, because building an electric car generates much more carbon dioxide than building a gas powered vehicle. This, according to a study by Christoph Buchal of the University of Cologne, and published by the Ifo Institute in Munich last week is due to:

the significant amount of energy used in the mining and processing of lithium, cobalt, and manganese, which are critical raw materials for the production of electric car batteries.
More here from Zero Hedge, in an article that concludes:

... maybe Elon Musk's plan to save the world with electric cars is the biggest scam of our lifetime...
That seems like an overstatement. But one can surely say that the impending bankruptcy of Musk's inflammable electric car company should be no cause for concern to environmentalists.
