During this weeks "Leaders Debate" Jagmeet Singh took advantage of the freedom of speech allowed under the constitution to all Canadians to declare that the civil, intelligent and indeed distinguished Maxime Bernier, former Minister of External Affairs and now leader of the People's Party of Canada, should have been denied the right to participate in the debate.

The same scoundrel has now made it clear that he's angling for a cabinet post in a minority Liberal Government. So be warned, Canadian citizens, a vote for Singh and the NDP is a vote for the continued government of the two-faced corruptionist, Justin, Black-Face Trudeau.

To claim that Brexit is "ALT-RIGHT" must make perfectly good sense to a party led by Justin Trudeau, a Communist-loving globalist messiah committed to the view that Canada is a post-national state, which is to say a state that Trudeau rules without a regard for the Canadian nation.

So fuck off all you Canucks. Canada's to be run for the benefit of the world at large, not for you, the Canadian nation, which Trudeau has long ago declared, in his 2015 New York Times interview, to be null and void.

And in that context, Brexit, based on the idea that the Brits should rule themselves, is clearly anathema, which is to say far right-wing, extremist, anti-self-genocidal RAAAACISM.

Canadian Election — The Party Leaders: Four Progs and a Rational Conservative (aka Raaacist). Part 2. Conservative party Leader, Andrew Scheer

To some it may seem surprising to rank the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada among the progs, but the reality is that Conservatives are generally more broadminded and open to new ideas than liberals, who, obsessed by their own virtue, are much inclined to authoritarianism and the resort to hate speech — as in branding opponents RAAAAACISTs, Nazis and white supremacists.

Indeed, until 2003, Canada's Conservatives called themselves the Progressive Conservative Party, and going back to the day of John A. MacDonald, the man who created Canada, conservatives at one point called themselves Liberal Conservatives. In that era, it was John A.'s Conservative government that granted the vote to first nations people over the objection of Liberals, who once in power, revoked the legislation. Indeed it was only due to the strength of Liberal opposition that MacDonald abandoned a plan to grant women the vote.

So yes, a Scheer-led Conservative Party would almost certainly be more liberal than the Liberal Party of Justin Trudeau, a staunch admirer of Alt-Left, i.e., Communist, dictatorship from that of Fidel Castro's Cuba, to Mao's bloody revolutionary government of China.

But Liberals and Conservatives are barely ideological in their commitments at all. Rather, both are parties of main chancers seeking to "seize the centre ground," to quote that champion of opportunists, Britain's Tony Blair, the destroyer of Iraq.

So in what way is Scheer, the only possible alternative, preferable to Trudeau as Prime Minister?

Four reasons immediately come to mind:

First, though no orator, Scheer can, unlike Trudeau, make a speech without repeatedly gasping for breath while his brain catches up with his mouth.

Second, Scheer displays no paraphiliac inclination to dressing up in ways embarrassing to Canadians and irritating to the people so emulated.

Third, although a carbon tax appears the best solution to rising atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration and the serious harm that that may cause, Scheer is right to oppose this costly measure as a national policy.

The chief consequence of the Liberal Government's Carbon tax policy will be to put Canadian industry at a disadvantage versus industry of countries without a carbon tax, in particular, the industry of our greatest trading partner by far, the US. Canada should push for a global carbon tax regime that punishes non-compliant countries with countervailing tariffs, not hobble our energy and energy-intensive industries with a unilaterally imposed carbon tax.

Fourth, Scheer's plan to promote Canadian R and D leading to technology that reduces carbon emissions, is very interesting. It may be possible, for example, to develop economically viable means of converting tar-sands bitumen, in situ, to hydrogen gas, while leaving the carbon in the ground. Hydrogen could then be used for carbon-free thermal power generation. Moreover, hydrogen, with three times the energy density of kerosene, has in liquified form, interesting potential as an aviation fuel that could massively increase aircraft payloads.

And one could go on. But as we wrote before, Trudeau's leadership was a desperate gamble after the liberals had experienced three leadership duds in a row. He was promoted to the leadership solely on the basis of his name and good looks. Now we know where a name and good looks wedded to flakey, authoritarian bullshit takes one, and it's time now for change and Scheer's is the face of change.

Unemployment is low because of the roaring boom generated by the giant ogre to the south, but Canada’s own job creation and capital formation are following the prime minister’s love of globalism by going, people and money, to places where talent and effort are better rewarded.

Those who accuse the prime minister and his government of having no direction are unjust. But those who fear it is the wrong direction are not.

For Britain’s entry into a Customs Union – such as the Economic Community of Europe – has a double effect. The barriers go down between us and the six countries of Europe. But they go up between us and the Commonwealth. We shall find it easier to sell in the markets of the six, because we shall no longer be faced with tariffs against our goods. How much are they now? Ten to fifteen per cent. But we shall be at a disadvantage in the rest of Europe compared with our position today, because in the European Free Trade Area we now have a tariff advantage over and against the six countries, which we shall lose if we go in. And since it would be rash to assume that the advantages which the Commonwealth countries give us in their markets will be retained by us when we deprive them of the advantages they at present have in ours, we shall also lose in Commonwealth markets for the same reason.

IQ-ism: the Third Phase in the Development of Psychology as a Pathological Discipline

One of the things I have to tell you about IQ research is this: if you don't buy IQ research, you might as well throw away all the rest of psychology. And the reason for that is that the psychologists who developed "intelligence testing" were among the early psychologists that instantiated the statistical techniques that all psychologists use to verify and test all of their hypotheses. So you end up throwing the baby out with the bath water.

And the IQ people have defined intelligence in a more stringent and accurate way that we have been abnle to define almost any other psychological construct. So if you toss out the one that is most well defined, then you're kind of stuck with the problem [of] what are you going to do with all the other ones that you have left over.... whose predictive validity is much less.

In a comment thread at the Unz Review, among the most thoughtful and well-informed participants remarked on what they held to be the importance of IQ research. The claim prompted me to the following remarks dismissing the entire business of what may be called IQ-ism as, at best, a scholastic blunder of epic proportions, and at worst, a grotesque fraud:

Speaking of "reasons to support IQ research," I would say that there are none. IQ-ism is just a phase in the development of psychology as a pathological intellectual discipline. IQ-ism is the latest in a series of attempts to comprehend the vast complexity of the operation of the brain by alchemically simplistic means.

First, in the history of this crackpot discipline was psychoanalysis, aptly described by Peter Medowar as:

... like a dinosaur or a zeppelin; no better theory can ever be erected on its ruins, which will remain for ever one of the saddest and strangest of all landmarks in the history of twentieth century thought.

Then there was Behaviorism, which sought to explain human behavior and personality in their entirety solely in terms of the acquisition of operant conditioned reflexes. That theory crashed and burned as cybernetics confirmed what Behaviorists had denied, namely, that humans are conscious beings and that what consciousness tells of our feelings and intentions is a valid source of information.

And now we have IQism, which claims to be able to quantify a person's intelligence on a unidimensional scale by means of a simple paper and pencil test involving a few logical puzzles plus, depending on the test of choice, miscellaneous other items.

How do the IQ-ists sell this idea? Primarily by the artful use of language. Their little test, they call an "intelligence test," thereby establishing in the minds of the masses the unquestioned assumption that intelligence is what the IQ-ist's test measures. In fact, however, as a Google search will confirm, intelligence is the ability to acquire and to use information, whereas an IQ test measures neither except in an incredibly limited domain and with a test the results of which are subject to massive circumstantial bias.

But the IQ-ist scam has worked so well for so long that psychology has yet to even broach the real scientific questions that must underlie the measurement of intelligence: namely, how to measure the capacity for information acquisition; and how to measure skill, effectiveness, Darwinian fitness, or whatever, in the use of information.

When one considers the measurement of intelligence in those terms, one is immediately confronted with the complexity of reality, and in particular, the fact that information is acquired via multiple channels, auditory, olfactory, visual, proprioceptive, etc. with data from each channel processed by a specialized brain module, or probably in most if not all cases, by multiple specialized brain modules.

So now if we take account of the fact that there are hundreds if not thousands of structural genes that impact the development and characteristics of those sensory channels and processing modules, we see that the capacity for the acquisition of information is not dependent on a single characteristic of the brain but on a large collection of independent variables. This fact is well known to common sense. People vary hugely in powers of memory and, moreover, that variation is type specific. Mozart transcribed the entire Allegri miserere after a single hearing, Stephen Wiltshire sketched the whole of Red Square from memory after a brief visit. But, so far as we know, Mozart had no special gift of visual memory, and Stephen Wiltshire is no musical genius. Others do more or less brilliantly remembering faces, voices, poetry, the numbers of pi, conversational tittle tattle, etc., but as far as is known, no one able to remember the first ten thousand places of pi, has composed a decent symphony or a popular opera.

So in only the matter of data acquisition, we see that intelligence is multiple not unitary. But much more complex to analyse than the capacity for information acquisition is the capacity for the use if information. In fact, perhaps, that is an impossibly difficult challenge. But it is a challenge that must be faced by anyone who claims to measure intelligence in a scientific and quantitative way.

As for the innateness of intelligence, something about which IQ-ists are most emphatic, it is axiomatic that the potentiality is entirely innate. Moreover, we know that there are hundreds, perhaps thousands of genes that direct brain development, plus probably many thousands of hereditary controlling elements, most yet to be identified, that shape the development of the brain and hence intelligence.

But the function of the brain is to record both sensory inputs, i.e., experience, and the internal workings of the brain, i.e., the development of our ideas, both of which shape the way we use information. So it is beyond question that environmental factors, through their effect on the contents of mind, have a huge impact on the degree to which the innate intellectual potential is expressed. Thus focusing on the genetic basis of intelligence to the exclusion of environmental factors, such as education and culture, cannot result in a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon.

Time For Another Children's Crusade?

Vancouver's School Board supports students who skip school for a climate strike.

Apparently, kids now believe that the world will end in 12 years.

Those of us a bit older that 12 years, have heard warnings about the imminent end of the world due to frost or fire, for decades now. But we have grown used to them, having found that life just goes on, decade after decade.

Eighteen years ago, prime minister Trudeau went to a party dressed as an African potentate with make-up to match.

It seems that almost everyone who's not a Liberal is taking violent offence.

But not the bunch of Britain's past dud PM's, Major, Blair, Cameroon, and May,* all failing to heed Boris Johnson's sound advice that "the main function of a past Prime Minister is to remain silent."

Instead, this congery of slithering losers, is baying for a second Brexit referendum, the one that Cameron called with the deepest cynicism in the assumption that the leavers would be defeated, and which May failed to kick into the long grass despite repeated and agonizingly feeble efforts, having gone the wrong damn way.

* And I forgot the biggest loser of the lot, Gordon Brown, still sour as Hell.

Untitledgate: When I was 20, I studied at the Leningrad Polytechnical Institute, in the waning days of the Soviet empire. Most of the Russians I met were amusingly free of stress caused by following news. Why would they bother? Bull-factories like Rossiskaya Gazeta and Leningradsaya Pravda were basically collections of dreary government news releases rewritten to sound like news reports.

I saw newspapers in Leningrad shredded into slivers of toilet paper, used in place of curtains in dorm rooms, even stuffed into overcoat linings as insulation. But I can’t recall a Russian person actually reading a Soviet newspaper for the content. That’s how useless its “news” was.

We’re headed to a similar place. The cable networks, along with the New York Times and Washington Post increasingly act like house organs of the government, and in particular the intelligence agencies.

New York Fire Commissioners Call Bullshit on Official 9/11 Report

New York's Fire District Commissioners now confirm what any scientifically literate or mechanically competent person has been saying for eighteen years: The media-promoted official story on 9/11 is crap.

Zero Hedge, September 11, 2019: On July 24, the Franklin Square and Munson Fire Districts voted unanimously for a new investigation, citing “overwhelming evidence” that “pre-planted explosives . . . caused the destruction of the three World Trade Center buildings.”

The resolution was written by Commissioner Christopher Gioia, and received overwhelming support from Commissioner Dennis Lyons.

“We have a memorial — a piece of steel from the World Trade Center with 28 holes where the nuts and bolts used to go. Every year on the 11th, we put a rose in each hole for the 24 Nassau County firefighters and four Franklin Square residents who died on 9/11,” Commissioner Lyons said.

When the vote was passed, the families of 9/11 victims showed up in the audience to express their support for the cause and their gratitude to the departments for making this issue a priority.

Commissioner Gioia said that he expects support from other districts throughout the city, and hopes that they will be passing similar resolutions in solidarity.

“We were the first fire district to pass this resolution. We won’t be the last,” Gioia said.
