Debunking Trudeau's Lies About the Truckers' Convoy

True North May 17, 2021: Several key pieces of testimony have poked holes in Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s justification for using the Emergencies Act to quash peaceful freedom convoy protestors in February.

Throughout the protests, the Liberals and legacy media made a number of claims about the convoy ranging from extremist involvement, foreign funding and millionaires bankrolling the movement. To date, all of these claims have been called into question by law enforcement officials and fundraising executives.

Several Trudeau cabinet ministers claimed in February that foreign extremists were funding the convoy to undermine Canada’s democracy. Among these ministers was public safety minister Marco Mendicino who stated – without evidence – that many of the donations had “been raised from abroad.” Minister of emergency preparedness Bill Blair also claimed that “foreign entities” were behind the protests.

Media outlets including the Toronto Star and the CBC also published articles falsely suggesting that the convoy was foreign-funded. The CBC was forced to retract a story that claimed that support for the convoy had come mainly from abroad.

Liberal MP Taleeb Noormohamed also compared the convoy donations to “terrorist financing” and called on terrorist-funding watchdogs to investigate fundraising platforms.

True North has listed nine instances where officials have categorically disputed the Liberal government’s claims about the Freedom Convoy.

The most commonly stated reason: "the current leadership."

Yet Trudeau's preposterous lies went over big when he repeated them in the European Parliament: 

Time for someone to launch an action against Trudeau for hate speech. Conviction plus a few months in jail might curb his insouciant, indeed Hitlerian, lying.

Canada's exit rules are now as tyrannical as those of the former Soviet Union. That is why Canada's Prime Ministerial Dictator, Justin Trudeau, waged war against participants in the Truckers' peaceful Ottawa protest, equating parking offenses with an attempt to overthrow the state. No questioning or criticism of Our Great Leader is tolerated. 

But Canadians are mostly a foolish lot. They call themselves liberals, so it is inconceivable to them that their Liberal government is capable of behaving as viciously as any far right extremist government headed by an absolute dictator. In fact that is what it is doing right now. Let's Go Trudeau.

Trudeau’s Destructive ‘Emergency’: The truckers protest could have been handled without abusing the law

Wall Street Journal: When former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau invoked emergency powers in peacetime in 1970, he was accused of “using a sledgehammer to crack a peanut.” Fifty-two years later, his son, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, has repeated the mistake.

The truckers protest against vaccine mandates, vilified by Mr. Trudeau as “racist” and “violent,” has been peaceful, but not every peaceful protest is legal. Blocking roads and border crossings disrupts lives and commerce. Government’s job is to maintain public order while respecting civil liberties. Canada has failed on both scores. For weeks authorities tried to wish away the problem. When that failed, Mr. Trudeau overreached, invoking new powers before Canadian jurisdictions had tried to enforce existing law. Ottawa police chief Peter Sloly was a progressive reformer. He criticizes the “reactive enforcement model” of policing, and when truckers took over his downtown, he failed to react. Mr. Sloly resigned Tuesday.

On Thursday Ottawa police, with provincial and federal help, finally came out in numbers, blocked highway exits, set up a perimeter and checkpoints and arrested blockade leaders. All of this could have been done under existing law. On Friday police began mopping up the protests methodically, with occasional scuffles and use of pepper spray. This too could have been done, albeit differentiating between the lawful and unlawful, and without threatening media with arrest for covering the action.
