Anti-Covid Hysteria, Or the Pandemic Road to Tyranny

During the plague years of the Seventeenth Century, the penalty in London for appearing in public bearing the marks of the plague was summary execution by hanging. Whether this measure to flatten the curve was effective is open to question since the bubonic plague was transmitted not from human to human but from flea to human, fleas being carried chiefly by the city's vast population of rats. 

Revealing that nothing much has changed in the combination of ruthlessness and futility in the response of public officials to the fear evoked by a poorly understood disease epidemic, the mayor of the German city of Ostfildern has authorized police use of firearms in responding to anti-vaccine protests. Futility, in this case, is evident from the fact — confirmed by the Director of the US Center for Disease Control, Rochelle Walensky, that the vax prevents neither infection nor transmission of Covid-19.

One difference, though, between the global Covid pandemic and London's 17th Century plague is that the former has thus far resulted in a world-wide mortality of less than zero point one percent, whereas London's 17th Century plague took out about one quarter of the population. It is this vast discrepancy that underlies the widespread public push-back against the Covid tyranny of Justin Trudeau and other Covid Nazi's.

In his account of the year 1606 in English history, James Shapiro writes of the resurgence of plague in London in July of that year. With plague deaths in excess of 40 a week, the theatres were closed, including that of Shakespeare's company, the Kings Men, who lowered the flag at the Globe and locked the playhouse doors.

Under the applicable regulations, those in a household with an infected person were compelled to remain at home in quarantine. Those caught escaping from a quarantined house

who did not have the marks of plague on them could be whipped and those with visible plague sores were guilty of a felony and subject to execution.

Which makes the practice in Wuhan of enforcing quarantines by nailing up doors with two-by-fours seem mild in comparison.

By the fall, the Lord Mayor of London, like Covid-encumbered Donald Trump today, faced accusations of failing to take "meet care in repressing the contagion of the plague."

Among those inadequate measures, the City had ordered that doors of infected households be painted with a red cross. However, it was said that too many were washing the paint off, prompting the Lord Mayor to promise the use of oil-based, not water-based, paint in the future.

By October, the death rate was averaging over 150 a week and diplomats, including the Venetian Ambassador, were departing. In response to the growing crisis, the Lord Mayor promised to expel beggars from the city, and to post watchmen outside every infected house, thereby "suffering no person to go more out of the said house."

Meantime, those attending on the sick, which is to say the UberEats and GrubHub of the day, were required to carry a yard-long red stick, thereby to prompt other users of the public space to social distance.

Mass Immigration Is Bad for Britain (and Every Other Nation of European People)

Raphael Lemkin, who coined the term genocide, said of the term that it may refer simply to:

a coordinated plan aimed at destruction of the essential foundations of the life of national groups so that these groups wither and die like plants that have suffered a blight.

Such is precisely the fate of the English in their own capital city, of London, where in many boroughs the English are not even the largest minority.

Speaking of the place of his nativity, London, England,  John Cleese recently remarked:

London is not really an English city any more

This generated the predictable storm of anti-British hate-speech from Britain's ruling Treason class.

Opposing destruction of your own nation's culture to accommodate millions of settler immigrants is vilest racism according to Britain's dictators of political correctness and their mouthpieces at the BBC, the Independent, the Gruniard, etc., etc.

Uncowed, Cleese responded to the condemnation by, in effect, calling the cultural transformation of London, England's greatest city, cultural genocide:

I think it's legitimate to prefer one culture to another For example, I prefer cultures that do not tolerate female genital mutilation. This will be considered racist by all those who hover, eagerly hoping that someone will offend them - on someone else's behalf, naturally.

And Cleese spoke only about culture.

That London has been ethnically cleansed of the majority of its English inhabitants is perhaps too hot a topic even for John Cleese to mention. It would be like Jews in Nazi Germany objecting to the Holocaust. No, today, in Britain, opposing the genocide of your own people is not only horribly racist, it is probably illegal too.
