The government has lost its legitimacy from the governed. This means it has lost any authority stemming from consent, or whatever vestiges of consent were left. Whoever is in "control" has some big, big problems now, however these will manifest in what's ahead.

DeleteThis is getting more airplay than covid and the weather right now. De Santis just committed les majeste, and Biden must either put up or shut up. Or would if he had a brain.
Who was it that said insults and even death threats can be tolerated, maybe invited, but never insults or total disrespect?
Who said it matters less than the fact that Joe is dead in the water. Either he really was the "planned short-timer" or he stepped in it good and hard. 60 years ago the capitals of Europe snickered at Jack Kennedy the Lightweight. Now we have light AND senile.
An American President is expected to be an imposing personality able to win the support of the public for national policy, while impressing upon foreigner leaders that America is a power to be reckoned with. At the same time, they are expected to be guided in all their decisions by the career bureaucrats.
DeleteThe dual mandate is virtually impossible to fulfill. A president either has the charisma and will to lead, which is intolerable to the Deep State, which will contrive his removal from office as in the case of JFK and Trump, or though amenable to puppetry, they lack the necessary presidential cred. Biden, aka Dementia Joe, or the Dementia Patient, while ideally suited to the role of presidential puppet, sadly lacks the necessary presence to fill the figurehead role.
It seems time for Americans to revamp their constitution and come up with something that reflects both reality and the national interest.
