Global Research, January 18, 2021: The media could not move faster to support the impeachment of Donald Trump and to place the responsibility for inciting a “violent insurrection” at his feet.
Whether it was the progressive magazine The Nation, the conservative newspaper the Wall Street Journal, or the revolutionary socialist website WSWS, the conclusion about Trump was the same: he had organized and led an armed group of dangerous extremists to seize control of the Congress with the intention of subverting the Constitution, overturning the election and attacking liberal politicians.
The view being promoted in the media is that Trump and his ignorant followers, claiming a stolen election without any evidence, spouting conspiracy theories about COVID19, are universally assumed to pose an immediate threat to the security of the United States.
CNN announced that Trump was “ isolated and wallowing in self-pity in the White House” as he awaited trial, and even possible imprisonment. The possibility that some part of the claims of fraud in the election might have grounds in fact, that some conspiracies about COVID19 are real, did not cross anyone’s mind.
It is true that hostile forces have taken control of Washington D.C.
But they were not wearing MAGA red hats or waving Confederate flags. No, the takeover was at a much higher level.

| If the election was not stolen, why is it impermissible to raise the question? Explanations that are off limits to investigation and public discussion are unlikely to be true. The Anchorage Daily News reported Trump has been consumed these last few days over whether to issue pardons for himself and his family while he still can.

The clock is ticking...I don't think Trump will pardon himself. He's in a "damned if I do and damned if I don't" bind. I'm not at all sure his pardon of himself would stick; it would leave a lasting impression of guilt and trying to wheedle out of punishment.
Once he's out of office, Trump could face all sorts of indictments. Apparently there's an indictment under way in New York.
We'll soon see.
My argument is once the plutocratic elite entered the waters of the Rubicon, there was no turning back. They can't wade in and then get "cold feet". I could see, and so could you-- "take no prisoners" was in effect, starting in February 2020.
Trump is fortune's fool. I was always partial to the fool, yet the fool has chosen the fool role for himself. He could have stopped at Ivanka, in which case, he wouldn't have been a fool. He wouldn't have been anything much, but he wouldn't have been a fool. He had his run-- to have it all, to do anything, and to be anyone, including President of the United States of America. Now there's hell to pay.
This is an old medieval ritual. We needed to be above this, but unfortunately, we are not.
