Mises Institute, January 21, 2021: Although advocates for covid-19 lockdowns continue to insist that they save lives, actual experience keeps suggesting otherwise.
On a national level, just eyeballing the data makes this clear. Countries that have implemented harsh lockdowns shouldn’t expect to have comparatively lower numbers of covid-19 deaths per million.
In Italy and the United Kingdom, for example, where lockdowns have been repeatedly imposed, death totals per million remain among the worst in the world. Meanwhile, in the United States, states with with the most harsh lockdown rules—such as New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts are among the states with the worst total deaths.
Lockdown advocates, of course, are likely to argue that if researchers control for a variety of other variables, then we’re sure to see that lockdowns have saved millions of lives. Yet research keeps showing us this simply isn’t the case.
The latest study to show the weakness of the prolockdown position appeared this month in the European Journal of Clinical Investigation, authored by Eran Bendavid, Christopher Oh, Jay Bhattacharya, and John P.A. Ioannidis.

ReplyDeleteYep, and the thing is no one actually does eyeball the data. I had a respected friend tell me he didn't see how anyone could continue to support Trump after he was responsible for a half million deaths. (I don't support Trump. That doesn't matter either. I do care he is blamed for the things blameworthy and exonerated for the rest, and is no longer subjected to the harsh demonization of the last four or more years.)

It is argued that the Covid pandemic is psyop implemented with the aid of a relatively harmless common cold virus to preserve the role of the dollar as the world reserve currency.
DeleteTrump hatred can perhaps be explained in similar terms, i.e., it is a psyop implemented with the aid of media propagated hate memes, to preserve the right of Western capital to operate globally at the expense of the Western blue collar class.
That the Trump agenda, which is to say the agenda Trump proclaims (whether or not with sincerity) won't be soon forgotten is suggested by its advocacy in Britain by authentic representatives of the working class.
DeleteThe consensus on the two anti-lockdown forums on Reddit is that the lockdowns, including the ones in other countries such as Canada and Peru, and the tightening of the restrictions in Europe in January, were all part of an effort to get rid of Trump, and will be lifted now that Biden is safely in office.
ReplyDeleteThis makes no sense whatsoever, and I think these posts are a sophisticated type of brigading.
Actually I think the entire scheme is a process where the elites transition from the fraud-based power structure under globalism to a force-based power structure. Part of the scheme, during the transition period, is to give people hope that the lockdowns will be lifted and everything getting back to normal any time now. So from time to time, restrictions are relaxed, only to be imposed again later. Or the idea that Biden will lift them for some reason. The vaccine is part of this, including the conspiracy theory that the COVID hoax was done to impose the vaccine, instead of a vaccine that is also a hoax being used to give people the idea that the lockdowns will end at some point.
Maybe, the virus was seen as a means to achieve several objectives. Certainly, it didn't help Trump, and indeed created the means, a huge increase in availability of mail-in ballots, to steal the election.

I think it is entirely impossible to predict this or that twist or turn in the implementation of the agenda you correctly describe.
DeleteThe elites will do what works best for them at any moment, whatever that is, and no matter how nonsensical it appears at any given moment to any of us who retain eyes to see and ears to hear.
They can lift the lockdowns, call them back, promote the vaccination then call them back, have us wear masks or triple masks or none at all. They call the step, and we have proved we will march. There is no "distant drummer" audible for the vast masses of humanity, and perhaps there never was.
I am curious about Trump's fate.
I personally think he is too valuable to the elites in his role as "Satan Incarnate", the evil of all evils.
If so, he can nestle away down there in Mar-a-Lago, or whatever it is called, being a good boy and laying low, not making good on his parting promise to "come back [to D.C.] one way or the other" or he can make noises and rouse grumblings...What the elites want to make of either will be made of either.
The specifics are impossible to predict, but the solid conclusion of where this terrible road we are on is leading is unavoidable...Tyranny at a global level unparalleled in human history.

DeleteYes, the means of absolute control over every human on the planet, now exist. Many tools of control, from spy cams to brainwashing via the Internet and other media are already being deployed. It can surely be only a matter of a short time before all the reins of power are gathered in the hands of one, surely tyrannical, individual. And our elites can't wait, apparently, or they would be discussing ways to prevent what could only be prevented by extraordinary means dependent on unprecedented international cooperation. As it is, the issue is never publicly spoken of.
