Was the ongoing war in Ukraine started for the purpose of redrawing the map of Eastern Europe?
In particular, was the objective to restore the frontier between Poland and Russia along the Dneiper River, where it was agreed in 1665 by the Treaty of Andrusovo, an agreement made "permanent" in 1686 by Russia's payment to Poland of 146,000 Rubles. (The ruble was worth more then than now -- about 5000 times more.) Under the terms of that treaty, Russia acquired Polish land to the right of the river, while Poland retained the left bank.
If that is the objective, what is the motivation?
For Russia, the benefit is obvious: the recovery of at least the Eastern half of the former Imperial domain of Little Russia.
For Poland, likewise, the benefit is the recovery of former imperial lands.
But why would Ukraine facilitate its own extinction?
For several reasons.
First, to be rid of those damn Russian cockroaches, to use the terminology of the Ukrainian nationalists.
Better to lose the Eastern territories than tolerate continued cohabitation with people who speak a foreign language, perpetuate a foreign culture, and have allegiance to the super power next door.
Second, to be rid of those damn Nazified nationalists, who not only hate Russians but also Jews, a highly influenctial element of Western Ukrainian society, with over one hundred thousand members in Kyiv alone.
Third, to enter immediately into the European Union and NATO, thereby gaining the prospect of rapid economic development plus increased security from further Russian encroachment.
How did Ukraine hope to achieve these objectives?
Easy.
First, send the Nazis to exterminate ethnic Russians in Eastern Ukraine.
Second, fail to prevent the Nazis from being killed or taken captive by invading forces of the Russian Federation sent to protect their Ukrainian co-ethnics.
Third, refuse a negotiated settlement with Russia, thus ensuring Russian annexation of East Ukrainian.
Fourth, make Poland an offer of union it cannot refuse, meaning the return to Poland of former Polish territory, including the Polish city of Lvov.
Result: Ukraine will be no more, and everyone but the Nazis and the many thousands of victims of war will be happy.

I agree with the part about the "Ukrainians" wanting an ethnic cleansing of eastern "Ukraine", but not the part about being willing to lose some of the richest areas of "Ukraine" in order to no longer cohabitate with Russian cockroaches.
The objective was to kill the Russians and take what they had, not let the Russians live, in a newly- annexed area of Russia, at that. You'd have to believe the victory over themselves by the people they hate and despise was a desired outcome. It is a disaster. It is a damaging defeat on all counts-- it was an insanity to have brought this on themselves.
Except the USA brought this on them-- they were dupes. Then the question is, Would the USA want this outcome?
I don't think that either. In my eyes, and I believe in the eyes of the world (i.e. everyone in the world not under the sway of American lies and propaganda), this is a significant victory for the Russians, increases their prestige, their credibility, their strategic prowess, and actually strengthens their economy. The very opposite of these for the American Empire.

which is true, or at least it's what former Ukrainian Prime Minister Julia Tymoshenko was fantasizing about when she talked about nuking the East.

Furthermore, neither Julia Tymoshenko, nor Volodymyr Zelensky, nor even the Ukrainian state has any legal or moral right to the land of East Ukraine which, for the most part, belongs to the people living there.
What's more, if the people of Eastern Ukraine want to become independent or to be ruled by Moscow, they have the same right as the people of Quebec or of Scotland and other democratic countries who have the righ to an independence referendum.
So, given the political impossibility of a Nazi-style genocide, the people of Western Ukraine can be rid of the mostly Russian people of Eastern Ukraine only by letting them separate.
Sending the Ukraine army to resist the separation seems paradoxical, I agree, but it has the merit of killing off, maiming or leading to Russian detention for many, hopefully most, of the Nazis. True, in the process, many ordinary guys, on both sides, are getting killed and maimed.
But all that means is that if you have a normal moral sense don't go into politics, where anything goes, if it achieves the objectives of the ruling elite.

I have sadly concluded they are not mutually exclusive.
I would like to believe Judaism and Nazism (Nazism-- the Teutonic variant (clade) of fascism) would be mutually exclusive, but even there I can find exceptions, going right back to Jews in Germany wanting to join the Nazi party.
I also have a rather uncertain conception of Fascism. However, nationalism, I believe I understand. Essentially, nationalism, when it is practised rationally, is Darwinism applied to human groups or nations.

In fact, in Hitler's Germany, Nazis and Jews had many ideas in common. Unfortunately for the Jews, those ideas made the coexistence of Jews and Germans impossible.
To be fair, during the Nazi era, many German Jews put country, i.e., Germany, ahead of race and served in Hitler's armed forces.
While it certainly has a downside, I am generally in favor of nationalism, which is in fact a basic feature of any democratic society. The world faces turmoil now because the globalist bastards like Trudeau, Trudeau's bud Zelensky, US Democrats, etc., seek to destroy the uniqueness of their own nation by combining the suppression of native reproduction with mass immigration. Thus, in Canada, for example, the immigration rate of 450,000 this year will exceed the number of births in Canada by almost half.
By such means, the globalists hope to extinguish nationalism by extinguishing the nations of the Earth. Instead, they will most likely destroy the European nations as populations in parts of the Third World explode. Nigeria, for example, which occupies less than 5% of the African continent, is expected to have a population greater than that of the United States by the end of this century. In the process, Nigeria and other African countries with sky-high fertility rates will almost certainly over-run Europe and the New World if existing migration flows persist.
I have nothing against Africans. In fact I expect great things of Africa in the century to come. But I am not for the genocide of my own people.
