Hypocrites For War Get a Trashing

UK Government Loses First Parliamentary Vote for War in Over 200 Years

The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it.

Reuters, August 30, 2013: Prime Minister David Cameron's plans to join a potential military strike on Syria were thwarted on Thursday night when Britain's parliament narrowly voted against a government motion to authorize such action in principle.

In a humiliating defeat for the British leader likely to damage Cameron's hopes of being re-elected in 2015 and set back traditionally strong U.S.-UK relations, parliament defied Cameron by 285 to 272 votes.

Commentators said it was the first time a British prime minister had lost a vote on war since 1782, when parliament effectively conceded American independence by voting against further fighting to crush the colony's rebellion.

The public have finally had it with wars justified by fake terrorism and bullshit moralism based on the stupid idea that killing someone with toxic gases is somehow vastly more heinous that murdering them with white phosporus, as happened in Gaza at the hands of Israel and in Fallujah at the hands of the United States, or blowing them to fragments of torn flesh and splintered bone with high explosives, as happens routinely wherever American drones and cruise missiles fly.

The Parliamentary defeat of Cameron's case for war on Syria is a necessary consequence of that public disillusionment. The same disillusionment exists in America. If Obama wants to wage war to reduce Syria to obedience to the will of the American Empire then he'd do well to say so. Quite a few people might support the idea. But his effort to persuade Americans and foreigners alike that the US has some moral obligation to bomb Syria into submission as it did with Libya not only insults the intelligence of the American public, but brings ridicule upon the government and people of America.

The civil war in Syria, which has killed 100,000 and made refugees of millions, has  been made possible by the provision of billions of dollars supplied to the Syrian rebels by US subordinate tyrannies, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The idea that America would spend one cent to prevent any number of Syrians being asphyxiated with poisonous gases if such expenditure failed to extend the power of the American empire is a childish absurdity.

Craig Murray: Israel Grants Oil Rights in Syria to Murdoch and Rothschild
Israel has granted oil exploration rights inside Syria, in the occupied Golan Heights, to Genie Energy. Major shareholders of Genie Energy – which also has interests in shale gas in the United States and shale oil in Israel – include Rupert Murdoch and Lord Jacob Rothschild.

...For Israel to seek to exploit mineral reserves in the occupied Golan Heights is plainly illegal in international law. Japan was succesfully sued by Singapore before the International Court of Justice for exploitation of Singapore’s oil resources during the second world war. The argument has been made in international law that an occupying power is entitled to opeate oil wells which were previously functioning and operated by the sovereign power, in whose position the occupying power now stands. But there is absolutely no disagreement in the authorities and case law that the drilling of new wells – let alone fracking – by an occupying power is illegal.

Israel tried to make the same move twenty years ago but was forced to back down after a strong reaction from the Syrian government, which gained diplomatic support from the United States. Israel is now seeking to take advantage of the weakened Syrian state; this move perhaps casts a new light on recent Israeli bombings in Syria.

In a rational world, the involvement of Rothschild and Murdoch in this international criminal activity would show them not to be fit and proper persons to hold major commercial interests elsewhere, and action would be taken. Naturally, nothing of the kind will happen.

Jon Rappoport: Syria, lies exposed, broken paradigms, dead pigs

...Every significant geopolitical story on the nightly news is a dead pig painted with lipstick.

On the home front, media, fed by politicians, are focusing on “dangerous people” who value freedom. This is a tale so old it creaks. It was told in ancient Egypt, in Greece, in Rome during the death throes of the Empire. Now, in America, it can only be spun by fatuously accusing freedom lovers of racism.

The Surveillance State is losing public support by the day. The notion that the government has to spy on everybody all the time to find “the terrorists” is so off-key, it sounds like a barroom medley sung by drunken sailors. Or a pronouncement rolled out at the height of the Catholic Inquisition.

To impose a closed system on the populace, it’s necessary to reduce the definition of what a person is. In this modern age, that strategy involves promoting stripped-down, lowest-common-denominator thought as a marvelous advance that will enable “human-machine” interactions…bringing us to the brink of a new techno-paradise.

It’s such a desperate tale, one wonders how the sellers can make it through the day without falling down and laughing themselves out of court.

The answer is: government funding. Like the oil monopoly, like the war machine, like the nuclear-energy titan, the government dispenses $$ to make the myths endure.

The pinnacle of this corruption is war. Offensive war. Not war to protect the home front, but to establish new beachheads of conquest, under the pretension of helping to liberate the oppressed. To create a sense of unity where unity was lacking.

The proposed attack on Syria is the latest footnote....

The whole thing is a sham and a scam and a cardboard front. Get it? I’m trying to tell you, my fellow Americans, ladies and gentlemen, all you good folks out there, what’s really happening. I’m hitting the high points.

We, in the media, are your basic liars. That’s our skill. That’s what makes us great. Right now, we’re selling the war to you. We’re trying, damn it, but it’s not easy. We’ve got so little to work with.

Dianne Sawyer, Scott Pelley, and I are carnival barkers. We dress it up, but that’s all we are. We fake it every night. I don’t even need to be here. You could have a CGI of me, programmed with messages from the White House, polished by our writers at NBC. Now, in fact, looking back at my career, that’s what it feels like. I was never here. I don’t know where the hell I was, but through a stroke of fate, I’m back. And I’m trying to feed you a little truth.

Just think oil and keep thinking oil. Oil pipeline through Syria. Oil in the Middle East.

Anyway…where was I? I could show you pictures of a hundred, two hundred places around the world where governments are torturing and killing their own people and putting them in cages. Is the US supposed to go into all those places and liberate the oppressed? Are we supposed to force free elections from the North Pole to Tierra del Fuego?

And what is a free election? I’ll tell you. It’s the same big-time players behind the scenes cooking the vote for a new bunch of tyrants. ...

Winston Churchill's July 1944 memo about poisonous gas to his chief of staff
I want you to think very seriously over this question of poison gas. It is absurd to consider morality on this topic when everybody used it [gas] in the last war without a word of complaint from the moralists or the Church. On the other hand, in the last war the bombing of open cities was regarded as forbidden. Now everybody does it as a matter of course. It is simply a question of fashion changing as she does between long and short skirts for women.

Putin ridicules US on Syria claims
He said it was ridiculous to suggest the Syrian government was to blame for the attack, calling it a "provocation by those who want to drag other countries into the Syrian conflict".

"Syrian government troops are on the offensive and have surrounded the opposition in several regions," he said..

"In these conditions, to give a trump card to those who are calling for a military intervention is utter nonsense.".

Russia's Vladimir Putin challenges US on Syria claims.

He said that the US failure to present evidence to the international community was "simply disrespectful"..

"If there is evidence it should be shown. If it is not shown, then there isn't any," he said.
