So perhaps God plays practical jokes as well as dice.CShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03399620869685840906noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5867260065662559631.post-63698474996721297432012-05-25T21:08:07.967-07:002012-05-25T21:08:07.967-07:00Yeah. B...Yeah. As noted above, this bothered Darwin too.

But you must admit that the fossil evidence is baffling if there has been no macro-evolution. Why else the apparent sequence of forms over time? As Einstein might have put it: "God does not play practical jokes."

And the ontogenetic recapitulation of phylogeny is suggestive though not quite as vividly as Haeckel originally claimed.

See: we even have gill slits!CShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03399620869685840906noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5867260065662559631.post-12691058502434702332012-05-25T15:14:16.017-07:002012-05-25T15:14:16.017-07:00Not even creationists deny micro evolution, which ...Not even creationists deny micro evolution, which would account for your example. I've seen no good examples of macro-evolution where there should surely be multiple thousands. In fact the very concept of a fish, for example, evolving into a land mammal is frankly absurd when carefully considered.Harry Jhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08299538663895557942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5867260065662559631.post-56475654153447166342012-05-24T17:08:17.781-07:002012-05-24T17:08:17.781-07:00Evolution unquestionably occurs. The changing in c...Evolution unquestionably occurs. The changing in color of the population of Great Britain since 1950 is an example of evolution in progress, although some would say it was an unimportant change, while others would say it was not "progress."

On a longer time scale, the fossil record seems to provide convincing evidence that the forms of organic life on Earth have changed progressively, i.e., have evolved. The only seeming alternative to that being that fossil record must be an elaborate practical joke, although God is not well known for humor.

But, yes, there are holes and difficulties with the theory. As Darwin remarked:

"To suppose that the eye with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I confess, absurd in the highest degree."

And it is not difficult to see how the process may have been subject to intelligent intervention. My own modest proposal concerning the emergence of humanity on Earth provides one example of how that might have occurred.CShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03399620869685840906noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5867260065662559631.post-16103371959082496182012-05-24T14:32:05.695-07:002012-05-24T14:32:05.695-07:00It's funny but I used to believe in evolution....It's funny but I used to believe in evolution. I always assumed it was proven, well established, fact. Of course when I studied it in more detail, as well as many of the 'creationist' arguments, I realised it was full of massive holes. It shouldn't be a surprise that the PTB have pushed the 'theory' for so long and to such an extent. It serves their purposes very well.Harry Jhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08299538663895557942noreply@blogger.com
